The goal of Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance and The Scratching Post Cat Cafe is for every adoption to be about FOREVER. We may not always be the fastest, or the organization finding homes for the most cats, but we are committed to every cat in our rescue receiving a high level of care.
Every cat in our care is examined by a vet, and SNAP tested for feline leukemia and FIV. All also undergo a deworming protocol for hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms, and are monitored closely for any additional intestinal “friends.” All our cats are spayed or neutered, and fully vaccinated for distemper and rabies prior to adoption. Additionally, older cats that come into our care also undergo routine senior blood testing and any additional recommended care, such as dental cleanings. Most cats adopted from Cherished Cats should not require additional routine veterinary care for about a year. We routinely invest more than $450 in the care of every cat we rescue, with illnesses and emergencies increasing that number significantly.
Our adoption process involves an application and usually a phone conversation, which is a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have. After that, we may ask to speak to your vet or another personal reference, and will then make arrangements for you to pick up your new feline friend, or for us to deliver him or her to you, depending on the situation. Our main priority is always to ensure that all cats adopted from us land in a home where they are a good fit to live out the rest of their lives.
All Kittens/Cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated (distemper combo and rabies), treated for parasites (fleas, mites and common worms), and microchipped, and the adoption fee is $150.
